Presidential Palliative Loan 2024: The Federal Government now opened the application portal for the Presidential Conditional Loan Scheme to Businesses in Nigeria (including Nano businesses) as part of the Federal Government Presidential Palliative Program.

The Presidential Palliative Loan Program is part of the Federal Government’s effort to alleviate the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the course of his inauguration on May 29, 2023.

Who is Allowed to Apply for a Presidential Palliative Loan

The FG has also specified the Scheme’s target industries and the enterprises that are eligible to apply for the PCGS.

Traders: These include single retail marketers, corner shop owners, petty traders, market men, and women in open markets, the government said in a statement.

Food Services: This category includes food and vegetable vendors; ICT: This category includes business center operators, battery chargers, recharge card vendors, and call center agents.

Transportation: Wheelbarrow pushers and independent dispatch riders are examples. Makeup artists, fashion designers, and dry cleaners are examples of creatives. Vulcanizers, shoemakers, painters, and repairers are examples of artisans.

Steps to Apply for a Presidential Palliative Loan

The first step in applying for the Presidential Palliative Loan is to gather all the required documents. These documents include your business registration certificate, tax identification number, and bank details.

Presidential Palliative Loan 2024 Application Update

The FG has stated that if applicants match the qualifying conditions, distribution will be made by their respective banks.

The loan duration is 36 months for MSMEs and 12 months for Manufacturers (working capital), with a six-month moratorium for Manufacturers applying for asset finance.

The loan has a 9% annual interest rate, and if the borrower is unable to repay the loan, the bank will take all legal steps to reclaim the amount from the borrower.

Applicants must have a registered business as a sole proprietorship, partnership, or limited liability corporation to apply with a partner company. If there is an age limit for the application, applicants/promoters of the company must be at least 18 years old.
